DEGARDO GmbH from Bad Oeynhausen made a real impact on the German Design Award jury this year with the new large-scale planter (192 x 167cm) from its STORUS product family. This extraordinary planter, seat and illuminated object was crowned “Winner 2016” at the 2016 Ambiente international trade fair.
The German Design Award is the top international prize given by the jury for design. Its aim is to discover unique trends in design, showcase them and award prizes. Each year top-class exhibits are premièred from the product and communications design world, each one demonstrating a ground-breaking quality, new to the international design landscape. The German Design Award was inaugurated in 2012 and is now one of the most recognised design competitions around the world, with an excellent reputation across the whole professional sector.
The jury’s statement (Prof. Stefan Diez | Nicolette Naumann | Silvia Olp) on STORUS by DEGARDO:
“With its alternative design, STORUS offers an interesting alternative to the standard round or square plant containers on the market. Its rounded form, free from corners and edges, reminds you of a pebble from a riverbed. STORUS fits harmoniously into its surroundings, not just as a planter, but also as a seat or sculpture. This high quality rotational-moulded product in polyethylene plastic is UV, impact and weather-resistant.A beautiful design, which is also available as an internally illuminated object, and which certainly catches your eye in all its versions.”
